Established in 1984, Baylor Research Institute (BRI) matches its research efforts with the strengths and expertise of the medical staffs at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas and other Baylor medical centers throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. |
|
Pioneering and innovation in research are unique characteristics that BRI brings to North Texas communities and patients from around the world. The institute identifies and pursues clinically relevant research opportunities to improve health care. The results of the Institute's research-basic, applied and clinical-are reported in major scientific publications and at national and international medical meetings.
In 1997, transplant physicians at Baylor successfully performed the world's first "bridge to transplant" using a genetically altered pig liver. Additionally, president of the Baylor Research Institute and anesthesiologist on staff at Baylor, Michael Ramsay, M.D., developed the most widely used controlled sedation management tool in the international critical care environment. |
